Located less than two miles from Interstate 94, this cheerful shop is owned by Jean Potter. It features a lounge are for your non-quilting friends to sit and knit or crochet during First Friday sewing events, or to simply hang out while you shop.
Miss jean is an experienced quilter and long arm operator, so do bring any questions you may have when you visit. More about the long arm systems later – let’s talk fabric!
Fabrics are modern styles, featuring Riley Blake, Maywood Studio Flannels, and bright wide backs that will make your quilt completely reversible. There are solids and blenders, including Grunge in plain and metallic. Wide backings are available, and I would use some of them for Stack-n-Whack; they are that pretty and the prints are wonderful. Look for Island Batiks, and large and small prints. There is also a nice selection of panels. All in all there are over 1,500 bolts of fabric to make your selection, so have fun!
Samples are displayed throughout the shop, and there is a great selection of quilt kits and patterns. Many of the kits are assembled in house. Classes are available, as are weekend retreats where you sleep in your own bed or hotel of choice, but you can stay as late as you like. Sleep may be optional…
There are three long arm systems in house, available for rental after you take a class on safety and proper operation. Please contact the shop for machine operator classes and machine time costs and scheduling.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty to forty minutes, longer if you find a pattern you like and want to build your own kit. Help is available for this.
