Located four miles from Interstate 77, this delightful shop is paired with a gorgeous 1,500 specimen day lily garden. Google Maps is a little confusing – when you come to the bottom of the hill after the hairpin turn, go straight onto the gravel road rather than turning right and crossing the bridge. The shop is less than a half mile down the gravel road. Owner Marla Work is the quilter; her late husband collected day lilies. Watch the website for bloom peaks if you want to combine the shop and gardens. They have been established for over 15 years.
On to the fabric! There are over 2,000 bolts on hand, plus over 200 wide backings and about 200 panels. Fabrics are from Northcott, Benartex, Moda, and Kansas Troubles, among others. Kansas Troubles is a line of Civil War fabrics that uses a very consistent dye set, so all of the fabrics in the line can be used together. There are solids and blenders, and tone on tones in white and ivory. Minkee is available in 60 inch widths, and there are wonderful large and small prints to play with for Stack-n-Whack or whatever strikes your fancy. Strip packs, Charm Packs, and Jelly Rolls are also on hand. There are another 600 or so bolts of sale fabrics on the second floor, so do be sure to check them out as well.
Samples are displayed everywhere, including as curtains for the long arm area. Some have kits; if you want a kit and there isn’t one, Miss Marla or one of her staff will happily help you to create on to match you home color palette. Classes are available; please check the website or call the shop for the current schedule.
Watch for the mascots when you open the door; very friendly little escape artists!
