This is the sister store to Lancaster Home & Fabric in Ronks, Pennsylvania. Locate just 30 minutes northeast in Letitz, and around ten miles from PA 501 North, the store was formerly Weaver Fabrics. Also owned by Lloyd Esh, this is the larger of the two stores, and carries three times as much fabric as the Ronks location. That translates to over 18,000 bolts of fabric on hand at this location! No, that is not a typo, and the comma is placed correctly! So let’s talk fabric.
The shop is generally sorted by fabric type (cotton or cotton flannel), then by designer or manufacturer. There are signs at each section, so if you are looking for Kaffe Fassett or Tula Pink, for example, check for the label and find the collection. Christmas fabrics are all together, as are team fabrics. There are Banyan batiks and children’s book panels. Large and small prints are everywhere, and there are solids and blenders to go with them. Make sure you turn right before going down the stairs – there are three more rooms back that way, plus flannel. Flannel has its own room, and wide backings have an alcove. Wide Backings are available in Cotton, Flannel, and Minkee, and I would estimate at least 200 choices. There are panels in cotton and Minkee. Fleece and pre-quilted cottons are also available. Wool is available for applique, and there are Charm Packs, Jelly Rolls, and Layer Cakes available. Grunge is on hand in plain and dots. There is also polyester and corduroy clothing fabric on hand, and don’t miss the wonderful button collection! Downstairs there is even more fabric, including the sale selection.
The current Block of the Month is Blissful, a seven month delight pictured here that uses Wilmington fabrics. Samples are on display, and generally have the pattern nearby. There is also a selection of completed quilts for sale, so check these out as well. Don’t miss the ones around the staircase as you are going downstairs! Long arm needs are referred to local businesses, so do ask if you are looking for someone to quilt your masterpiece.
As you might guess with a shop this size, you are going to need some time to see everything. I was here for over two hours, and I would allot at least that much time here.
