Located just 100 feet from Route 30, this shop is easy to find and fun to visit. Turn at the sign for the Village of Dutch Delights, park in the back parking lot, and walk to the shop. This is one of two shops under this name owned by Lloyd Esh. The other is in Letitz, and I’ll review that one in a few weeks. Just a heads up on this one – fabric is upstairs, and there is no elevator. The Letitz store does have one; there is simply no way to add one to this location without tearing down the building and starting over.
I asked the manager how much fabric he had on hand – his response was “only 5,000 bolts or so.” Fabrics are shelved by designer or theme, so if you are looking for cats and dogs, for example, or Kaffe, they are grouped on the shelves. There is Kaffe Fassett, Northcott, Marcus Brothers, and Moda, to name a few. Solids and blenders, and a great selection of tone on tones are on hand. Large prints, many a dream for Stack-n-Whack, are well represented. Smaller prints and wool are also in stock. Don’t miss the Layer Cakes, Strip Packs, and Charm Packs. If you enjoy Civil War prints, you’ll find those as well. Many wide backings are available to complete your project without seaming the back. Don’t miss the team prints for the sports fan in your life! Make sure you wander into the discount room before you leave – wonderful bargains are available there.
Samples are wonderful. There is a Block of the Month, Blissful by Wilmington prints, that is in progress. Samples have patterns with them if the pattern is available, and samples are sold when the fabric line used to make them sells out. If you see a sample you like, let the shop know and they will call when it is available. I would plan to spend at least twenty to forty minutes in fabric land, and then there are all of the home decorating goodies on the first floor…
