Located less than five miles from Interstate 25, this delightful shop has bee in the same location for over twenty-three years. The shop is owned by wife and husband team Mary McCusker and Allen Winchester, but every employee either quilts or sews. This means questions can be answered for anything you are stuck on, or any pattern you are thinking of attempting. Their website encourages you to call with problems; I would say stop in and enjoy the shop in person!
About the fabrics here: Check out the batiks, in color ranges from nearly white to super dark blues and purples. Then there are solids and blenders, and some wonderful tone on tones. Kaffe Fassett is well represented, and there is some Tilde (designed in Norway) on hand as well. Check out the southwestern prints, and don’t miss the large and small prints that make such a wonderful base to match fabrics for your next project. All together, there are over 3,500 bolts of quilting fabric to tempt you, including some beautiful wide backings. There is also a nice selection of quilt kits, and Laura Heine Collage patterns. There are strip packs, and 5″ square packs in cotton and hand dyed wool. Don’t miss the clothing fabrics and patterns!
Sample quilts are displayed on most walls, and there are patterns nearby for most of them. These jackrabbits are adorable! There are also samples and patterns for bags – because we all need something to carry our latest project to class, don’t we? If you have never tried Sashiko Embroidery, pick up a square or two and try it. It’s very portable, and the squares can easily become a quilt or pillow.
There is also a great collection of OmniGrid rulers to help with your next adventure. I would plan to be here for at least thirty to forty-five minutes. Make sure you wander back the ramps and check out all of the rooms. The store is much larger than it appears initially.
