Located just 15 miles from Interstate 75, this shop was a find by my sister when she bought a second home in Buffalo, Kentucky. Head down the driveway for parking, and enter through the back of the building. Owner Mary Sennott transformed her basement into a shop, and started adding fabrics. Miss Mary is an accomplished quilter and can answer any questions you might have, as can any of her staff.
Fabrics here are bright and plentiful, with over 4,000 bolts on hand. Start with Kaffe Fassett, and then look for the Banyon Batiks, by Northcott. These generally have a printed motif over the batik, so you can actually Stack-n-Whack them! There are also solids, including some wonderful pastels with a really nice hand, and a great collection of blenders. Grunge is available in plain, dots, stars, and metallics. Large and small prints and Civil War fabrics are here as well. Wide backings are on hand, as are panels and a selection of flannel. Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls keep the quilt kits company. Do check out the classroom – that’s where the sale fabrics are stored! Don’t miss the University of Kentucky fabrics for that special student or alumni in your life.
This delightful string pieced quilt is just one of the many samples on display here. The quilting is lovely, and done in house – more on that later. Patterns are available for most samples, and classes for some of them as well.
Classes are in session in person. There are two Block of the Month groups in process, and applique classes are also available. There is even a class on making a quilted Big Shirt, and one teaching you how to make a darling basket. Check out the class schedule online at https://uniquequilts.wordpress.com/.
Long arm services are available in house, with machine driving by Mr. Sennott. The system has taken over the sun room, but you can look over the dutch door and see what is in progress. The quilts displayed in the shop are great examples of the fine quality work done here. Please contact the shop directly for pricing and lead times.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty-five to forty minutes to enjoy all of the offerings.
