Located just over a mile from Interstate 75, this store is one of two family owned stores. The second is in Centerville, Ohio. Ohio was the original store, opened by Elizabeth Pooler forty years ago. Now her two daughters manage to the two stores. Today we are in the Kentucky store; Ohio will have to be visited at a later date as I am on my way west.
Fabric. Lots of fabric. Over 10,0000 bolts on hand, ranging from Free Spirit to Robert Kaufman to Hoffman to Maywood Studio to Moda, among others. There are shelves of solids and blenders, Kimberbell patterns and fabrics, and flannels. Kentucky University fabrics are available, as is plain Grunge. There are large and small prints, and a great selection of precuts from Jelly Rolls to Charm Packs to Layer Cakes to Fat Quarter Bundles. Don’t miss the panels! Wool is available as small cuts or yardage.
There are samples on display throughout the shop, with patterns for most and kits for some. Open Sew is available every fourth Friday, and the shop does a “Facebook Live” every Monday at 9:30 AM. New fabrics, new kits, new patterns, and old and new techniques are demonstrated. Sewing classes are available; please check the website for details.
The shop is a registered dealer for Pfaff, Singer, and Viking Husqvarna Machines. Threads from Signature, Isacord, and Robinson Anton are on hand for your sewing and embroidery needs. Do take some time to check out the machines when you visit.
Of course, the one at the left would be hard to sew upon, but it is gorgeous!
I would plan to be here for between thirty and forty-five minutes.
