The Quilt Crossing Boise, Idaho

Take Interstate 84 out of Nampa to Boise, and this stunning shop is just about four miles from the interstate. Owner Laura Reardon has been serving local quilters and crafters for over 35 years. The shop is a drop point for the local Humane Society for cat and dog beds, as well as the Pet Food Pantry, which helps seniors to feed their pets. The shop also has a fabric bank, where you can donate unwanted fabrics and local charities can draw it out to make quilts.

Speaking of fabrics, there are well over 5,000 bolts on hand here. There are solids and blenders, and Grunge in plain and dots. Tone on tones are also available, and several shelves of batiks. Large and small prints are on hand, as are beautiful wide backings in 108″ cottons and 90″ Minkee. Wool for applique is in stock as well. Precuts include Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes. Designers include Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett, and there is also a nice selection of organic cottons, linens, and cotton linen blends. The shop also carries Accuquilt Go cutting systems and dies to make your life easier.

I realized when I started downloading pictures that I took far more picture of samples than of fabrics here. Not too surprising, with the sheer number of gorgeous samples available to photograph! This store has the largest pattern selection in Idaho, and they have as may samples as possible to show the breadth of their offerings. If you are searching for a specific pattern, I would call this shop and see if they have it or can get it for you. There are kits for a lot of the patterns, or you can build your own kit (with help if you need it). Many samples also have a class available; look for the tags.

Many of the patterns are designed by local folks and in some cases folks who work at the shop. That gives you the opportunity to chat with the pattern designer and ask questions. Yes, that is a Judy Neimeyer pattern, and the shop has certified instructors if you’d like to take a class. The shop also carries Jacqueline DeJonge kits and patterns. These are wonderful quilts with a bit of jeweling added for emphasis, and need to be seen to appreciate.

The Quilt Crossing is the areas largest Bernina dealer, as well as offering long arm services and rentals. A class is required before renting. Please contact the shop for pricing and lead times for both shop done and rental long arm services. There are Isacord embroidery threads, as well as Kimberbell patterns, on hand. Check online for class offerings on embroidery as well as quilting. I would plan to be here at least forty minutes to an hour to see everything.
