Located inside Peninsula Center Mall right off of the Sterling Highway, this busy shop is owned by Jeanne Acton and her husband Ken. Google is a little confused, but if you put in Peninsula Center Mall it gets you to the right place. Look for the sign on the side of the building to get to the correct entrance.
According to the sales reps for the fabric companies, this is the largest store in Alaska. With over 5,000 bolts of quilting fabrics on hand, not to mention clothing fabrics, I get the point. There are solids and blenders, including Grunge in plain, dots, and stars. Tone on tones and batiks, both regular and Alaskan themed, are also present. Don’t miss the large prints, including a great selection of Kaffe Fassett, and smaller prints as well. Then there are Layer Cakes, Charm Packs, and Jelly Rolls. Wander over and check out the wide backings, and stop to look through the patterns. Don’t miss the Funky Friends – they are adorable!
There is a large range of samples on display, from the Funky Friends (I would have been happy to take one of these guys home…) to wonderful quilts. Patterns and classes are available; please check the website or sign up for the newsletter to see what’s coming. ! The panel at the right was designed for the Alaskan Centennial, and I managed to snag one – it was in 2015, so they are getting rare!
The shop sells and services Innova Long Arm Systems, as well as providing long arm services for customers. Long arm choices are free motion, custom, and computerized. Please call the shop for details.
I would plan to spend at least thirty to forty minutes here; I spent well over an hour…
