Continuing south, I found this wonderful shop in Palmer, Alaska, less than a mile from AK-1. The shop is owned by Carol Prosser, Brenda Bland, and Sarah Klever, who also own The Quilt Tree in Anchorage. They purchased this shop when it was closing 17 years ago, just so (Just Sew) there would be continue to be a fabric shop available in the area
There are well over 2,000 bolts of fabric on hand here, starting with wide backs in 108′ cotton and 60″ Cuddle. Plain Grunge, large prints, small prints, solids and blenders are here as well. Tone on tones are also available, as are some wonderful batiks and a selection of wool for applique. Christmas fabrics are on hand year round, and there are wonderful wild animal panels. I found the wolf my daughter had been hunting for here. Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs, and Layer Cakes are also available, as are patterns and help choosing your fabrics to go with them.
Samples are displayed on just about every wall. Many go with classes or kits. Please check online or call for class information. The Aurora with Stars at the right was a raffle quilt for a local fundraiser, designed and made by a local quilter. It is absolutely stunning in person! I loved the boat as a display case, and I bought the pattern for the one on the table.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty to thirty minutes. Oh, and watch out for the K-9 unit on the way into town…
