Located just off of AK-3, this shop is a pleasant break on the drive from Fairbanks to Anchorage, as well as a source for wonderful fabrics. Owner Sylvia Stewart offers classes for quilting, bags, and clothing, as well as help with any pattern you may be struggling to complete. Of course, there is also wonderful fabric!
Check out the Cuddle Luxe, a furry version of cuddle that begs to be petted. There are Alaska themed fabrics, and a great collection of panels – many displayed on the ceiling! There are solids, blenders, Grunge in plain and dots, and a selection of Kaffe Fassett. Large and small prints, and beautiful batiks are included in the 2,500 plus bolts on hand. There are also wide backs and Minkee. If you enjoy using precuts, Fat Quarter bundles, Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes, and Charm Packs are also available.
Samples are displayed on the walls, and there are kits or patterns for most of them. Some are class samples, and the samples are made in house, so staff can answer any questions you may have. I love the quilting on this Northern Lights panel quilt! Browse through the patterns for quilts, bags, and clothing, and check out the trims, from buttons to zippers. There is also a wide selection of threads. Stop in for Open Sew on Wednesday or Friday and chat with and get help from fellow quilters.
I would plan to be here for at least twenty to thirty minutes to enjoy everything the shop has to offer.
