Simply Stashing Fabric & Quilts Littlestown, Pennsylvania

Located even closer to the Maryland border, and only five miles from last Thursday’s shop, this wonderful find is in a complex that used to house several other shops as well. These closed in 2016, but the Quilt Patch sign is still in place and helps to locate the turn. Owner Deb Curtis has been quilting for close to 42 years, starting as a long arm operator and buying the Quilt Patch, formerly in this location, when it became available. The property sold, and new owner had the property rezoned to Farm – but in Pennsylvania, quilting is listed as a farm activity, so the shop lives on!

There are over 2,000 bolts of cotton fabrics here, ranging from solids and blenders to Civil War reproductions. There are blenders and tone on tones. Batiks and large and small prints are also on hand. There is a wool corner with selections in several sizes, including wool felt. Layer Cakes, Fat Quarter Bundle, and Jelly Rolls, and panels are available. There are also two unique collections of kits. Pick a five yard bundle, then pick one of about a dozen patterns to make with it, or pick a two and a half yard bundle and a baby quilt pattern to use. These let you pick the fabric and pattern you really like without them being tied together – much easier, in my opinion! There is also a notion wall. Miss Deb tries every notion before she orders it, so you know that it will be helpful, and if you can’t figure out how to use it, she can explain it.

Inside the door, there is a current collection featured to make a Turning Twenty quilt. The quilts change as the collections change. The one at the right was actually made by the owner’s husband, and was ready to be hung when I got there. There are kits available. Miss Deb says there is no reason to reinvent the wheel – this is a great easy classic quilt, so some version of it is always available. This is just one of the many samples on display, and retired samples are for sale. There is also a Block of the Month club in process. Please check the website or call the shop if you want to get on board. The shop also teaches Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 classes. The Lemoyne Trails (Snails Trial with attitude) quilt is from a class

Meet Gertie the Gammill, the in house long arm machine. Miss Deb started as a long armer, and has years of experience – the work I saw was beautiful. Please call for pricing and lead times to have your masterpiece finished.

The shop also offers consignment sales for local artists, ranging from wood working to decorations made from old glassware. These need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. I would plan to be here at least thirty to forty-five minutes.
