This shop packs a lot of fabric in a little space, but it is all well organized. Located about 15 miles south of Interstate 76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike), it is an easy ride through beautiful countryside to get here. Owner Jean Mirizio is an accomplished long armer as well as a quilter. Do call and check hours – she is recovering from surgery now and using a ‘knee scooter” – one foot is not allowed any weight bearing -but hopes to be back to work “full time” soon!
The first impression coming in the door is bright and cheerful, with lots of wonderfully bright fabrics on hand. Kaffe Fassett, Tim Holtz, and Tilda are just a few of the designers on hand. There are some wonderful wide backs, as well as large and small prints – lots of possibilities for Stack-n-Whack here! Solids and blenders are available, as are tone on tones. Check out the batiks, and don’t miss the sale shelf – I got some really great deals there for a project I’m currently working to complete. Fat quarters are shelved near their parent bolts, making them easy to find if you just need a little bit. Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls are here as well.
The quilt at the right is just one of the many samples on display. The pattern is Nova by GE Designs, and it is lovely! The pattern is available, and it is way simpler to make than it looks. There is a great selection of patterns here, and the red quilt is part of a Block of the Month that is in process.
Please plan to spend twenty to thirty minutes her – with over 3,100 bolts of fabric on hand, you will need some time to look at all of them!
