Owners Andree and Jolene Schwartz opened this wonderful shop in 2001. It is located about 16 miles south of Elkhart after a beautiful drive through the countryside. It is a true general store, with puzzles, games, cookware, and just for fun, Red Wing shoes. I had fun looking at the shoes; I wore Red Wing steel toed shoes at work for years. I also picked up some wonderful books for my great-grandson, as I was on my way out to see him for his first birthday celebration. Enough about that – let’s get to the fabric!
The shop carries about 500 bolt of quilting fabric and 500 bolts of polyester and polyester blend dress goods. Quilting fabric includes some Grunge, solids and blenders, and a few batiks. There are wonderful large and small prints, and some great wildlife prints and panels. These is some fleece, which can make great soft backings for your quilts. Speaking of backs – there is wide backing fabric available here. There in also Insulbrite for the crafters out there – think potholders – as well as batting to complete your quilting projects. Trims and laces for clothing or quilt embellishments are on hand as well. I also saw the interfacing that I use yards of for T-shirt quilts, so if these are in your future be sure to check it out.
These are two of the panels available . I considered them for the tote bag I talked about last time; I know where they are if I decide to go that route! The shop does not display sample quilts; there simply is not room. However, if you have questions do ask, as the staff are quite knowledgeable. Please plan to spend twenty to thirty minutes here.
