Located on the point between Indiana 119 and CR 40, this delightful shop is owned by the Martin Family, and has been serving the Goshen area since 1988. This is their third location, and you can enter from either CR 40 or IN 119. From the east, Google will take you down CR 40; you need to pass the shop and enter at the sign for the Shops at Southwest and turn back to the shop, which is quite visible.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how bright the shop is. All of the walls and ceilings are white. Sewing machines are to the right, and then there is bright fabric and quilt samples to the left along all of the walls. Fabrics include solids, tone on tone, and blenders. There are large and small prints, as well as batiks and wide backings. Two rows of clothing fabric are available, which are not part of the 3,000 plus bolts of 100% cottons. Windham Spectrum blenders are here – I had not seen them prior to this shop – as are Maywood Studio Pods, which are pre-cut kits for table runners. Fabric is displayed along the walls horizontally, which allows a LOT of fabric easily accessible for the space used. The Industrial Engineer in me loved it!
There are a lot of samples on display, with patterns for them available. They are generally displayed near the fabric used to create them, which makes building your own kit to match quite simple, and patterns are available. There is also a Sewing and Embroidery Club, where you can show off your current projects and get help if needed. Please check the website for days and times.
The shop is a registered dealer for Baby Lock and Janome machines, and offers free classes for new owners of sewing machines, embroidery machines, and sergers. Please plan to spend at least 30 to 40 minutes here.
