If you have relatives stationed at Tyndall AFB, or are traveling to the Gulf Coast in Florida, be sure to stop in and see this wonderful shop. It is located just 16 miles from Laguna Beach, and owned by Al and Sandy Perdue. The address is on Airport Road, but the entrance is on Winona Drive. After the last hurricane, the shop moved into the classroom space due to damage, but don’t let that stop you!
There is a lot of laughter here, and a lot of fabric as well. The shop has been serving the area since 2002, with over 2,500 bolts of fabric on display. Styles range from solids to tone on tone to blenders. There are over 150 bolts of Grunge, with plain, dots, and stars represented. There is a great collection of batiks and wide backs. The shop is sorted by colors, so matching prints is quite easy. Speaking of prints, Kaffe Fassett is well represented, as is Jacqueline de Jonge. There are a LOT of Stack-n-Whack candidates here! If you have not seen Ms. de Jonge’s quilts, you must stop in and check them out. They are complex and generally also jeweled. Kits for these are available here, so if you are taking one of her classes do stop in and get your supplies. Fat quarters are generally stored near their parent bolts. Pre-cuts include Jelly Rolls, Fat Quarter Bundles, Layer Cakes, and Charm Packs. There is also a great selection of panels.
In addition to Jacqueline de Jonge, the shop is a Laura Heine Certified Shop, and carries a lot of her patterns and kits. If you have not seen these collages, they alone make the stop worthwhile. There are also other quilt samples available, complete with patterns and kits, not to mention . bag patterns and samples to admire.
Plan to enjoy at least 30 to 40 minutes here.
