Located less than ten miles from Interstate 65, this is another shop that has a lot of machines as well as a lot of fabric. Owner Sue Kondis is equally at home discussing quilting and machines, so do make use of her expertise while you are visiting. If sh is not is, teh staff is wonderfully knowledgeable as well!
There is a great selection of fabrics here, with over 750 bolts on hand, These include solids, tine on tone, benders, and some wonderful batiks. Prints suitable for Stack-n-Whack, as well as smaller prints, are also available. In addition, there is a selection of silks, polyesters, tricot, and laces for clothing – or try a quilt in silk! There are also Jelly Rolls, Fat Quarter bundles, and Charm Packs. Wide backs are stocked on the bolt and in three yard precuts.
There are sample quilts on display, and most have patterns. Many are in the classroom, which is 4 doors down from the shop. The shop is located in an old strip mall; this is not the first shop I have seen where the classroom is a few doors down due to space availability. I caught them at lunch, so did not ask to be shown the classroom. (I did peek through the windows, however!)
The shop is a licensed dealer for Brother, Janome, and Bernina machines. Check out the machines, and if you do machine embroidery, you must stop in here for thread! Normal stock is over 5,000 spools in nearly as many colors. Florian threads and embroidery patterns are featured here; the picture is not nearly all of the available thread!
Don’t forget to say hello to Nellie, the shop mascot, while you are visiting! She is quite the character.
Plan to be here for 20 to 30 minutes; longer if you are checking out the machines – or looking at ALL of the thread!
