Quilter’s Yard Junction City, Kansas

Located less than two miles from Interstate 70, this delightful shop was a wonderful break on a cross country drive. Owned by Shari Strauss, and located on the main street through town, just watch for the purple awning! As you tour the shop, look for unique displays. Miss Shari has miniature donkeys, and at least one wagon has migrated to the shop as a display.

A wide selection of fabrics are available here, with over 2,500 bolts in house. Selections include over 800 bolts of batiks, not to mention solids, blenders, and tone on tone. Large and small prints are featured, and wool for applique. Stonehenge is abundant, and holiday fabrics are here all year. There are also Minky prints with matching cottons, which I had not seen before this shop. Flannels are here, as are Civil War Reproduction fabrics. There is a nice selection of panels as well.

Speaking of panels – this is a one block wonder from a panel, around the panel it was cut from, and it is stunning! I have seen several of these on this trip, and of course I’m going to have to make one of my own.

There are a LOT of samples in this shop, many complete with patterns, kits, and classes to show you how they were done. The First two photos below are the quilt and a close-up of one section, and yes, the quilt is jeweled!

Kimberbell Embroidery patterns are here as well, so be sure to check them out.

The shop is a registered dealer for Pfaff sewing machines and Handi Quilter mid arm and long arm systems. If you are in the market, be sure to check these out! Long arm supplies and notions are also available.
