Quilt Harbor Aberdeen, Washington

Quilt Harbor is out on the Washington coast, on the peninsula, about 45 miles from Interstate 5 – but it is a beautiful drive, and well worth the trip. Plan time to walk on the beach after you visit…

Owned by Susan and Ken Rausch, the shop carries fabric, Bernina Sewing machines, and every color of DMC embroidery floss that is currently available. Let’s start with fabric. There are batiks, blenders, tone on tones, and both large and small prints. The shop buys collections, so if the collection has a solid, it will be there. There is not a separate set of solids, but there are blenders that “read” as solids – which suits me perfectly, as I rarely use a solid color! I believe I have used true solids in only two of the dozens of quilts I have made, and those were commissioned and the person commissioning them picked their own fabrics. There are over 650 bolts of fabric to admire and make your selection, so you are sure to find something you can’t leave without. There is also a great selection of panels, and a shelf of wide backings.

Hand embroidery is very popular in this area, so the shop carries every available color of DMC embroidery floss. If you are looking for a color you cannot find, this is the place to call. They also carry quilting and hand embroidery patterns, and a great selection of thread for machine embroidery and sewing.

The shop is a registered Bernina Dealer, and provides repair service in house. If you are looking for a new machine, stop in and see what the current deals are. Please call ahead if your machine is having issues.

This Attic Window is just one of the many samples to admire while you are in the shop, and there are kits for many of them. Classes are on hold until the Covid situation settles, but kits can be purchased and questions answered if you are stuck on any project.

There is also a nice selection of hand dyed yarns available for folks who both knit and quilt. Plan to be here twenty to thirty minutes at least.

Long Arm services are available, providing free motion only. The long arm is not computer driven, but the samples sure looked like it was! Please call for lead times and pricing.
