In Stitches Quilt Shop Rushville, Indiana

Located just 20 miles south of Interstate 70, this shop is part of a loop I made through Indiana on the way to Illinois. Owned by Cathy Burkett, this shop has been helping quilters to create wonderful treasures for 17 years.

Housed in a building that started as an Allis Chalmers dealer, then became a Studebaker dealership, and then three restaurants, it has finally found its purpose as a quilt shop. There are over 1,200 bolts of fabric here, ranging from blenders (check out the Kansas Studio Hue Collection) to batiks and great prints. There are some wonderful Stack-N-Whack candidates, and a nice collection of patriotic prints. Don’t miss the solids and blenders, panels, Charm Packs, Jelly Rolls from Farm Sweet Farm, and Moda Candies. Sale fabrics are in the second room.

There are samples throughout the shop. Most have patterns and / or kits, so you can make one to match the shop or select your own fabrics. I love the samples made with panels! It can be hard sometimes to figure out how best to highlight a wonderful panel, and these patterns are a great help!

Be sure to stop and say hello to the store mascot, Molly, but please don’t try to pet her. She is behind the gate because she occasionally tries to take a little taste of the customers. She will wag her tail and greet you very nicely.

The shop has in house retreats once a month, limited to 14 people, so if you are interested please call for more information and to see what dates are available. Long arm service is available in house; again please call for more information. Plan 20 to 40 minutes here to see everything that is available.

Stop back on Monday to see where the North American Shop Hop is visiting next. I am continuing my loop through Indiana…
