Old Town Fabric Shop Chillicothe, Ohio

If you are taking 23 south to or past Chillicothe, make sure you visit this shop. It’s only four miles from Route 23, housed in part of a remodeled warehouse built along the Ohio-Erie Canal in 1852. Mother/daughter team Cindy Henderson and Kelly Battistin own and manage the store. Take some time to admire the architecture as well as the fabrics and samples.

If you need wider backing, this is the place to check out. Backings run up to 118″ wide, which is great for King Sized quilts. The shop is generally sorted by color and style, and with over 3,000 bolts of fabric to browse through, this is really helpful. I also like the colors sorted for matching to prints, so you can carry the print down the like looking for matches. There is a great selection of prints here as well. Moda is the predominant brand, but there is also Wyndham, batiks, Cuddle and fleece, and toweling.

There is a half wall of Fat Quarters, and wool in charm squares and larger pieces. Don’t miss the cabinet of precuts; many have matching layer cakes, charm packs, and jelly roils. These are displayed throughout the store as well.

There are samples hung on every wall, and behind fabric displays. I really like the one on the left – three quilts, one pattern, different sizes. Most have patterns and kits available, or are class samples. Ask the staff about any one you particularly like, and they would be more than happy to help you build your own kit if there isn’t one available, or sign you up for the class to make it.

Finally, the shop is a dealer for Bernina machines. Check these out while you are in the store, or pick up some new embroidery thread for the one you are already own.

If you are having problems with your machine, Miss Kelly is a certified Bernina Service Technician, so call and see when you can bring your baby in to visit. Plan to be here for 30 to 40 minutes to see all that is here.
