Located just under two miles from Interstate 40, this wonderful shop is co-owned by Suzanne Kelly and Steve Hamlin. They were featured in Quilt Sampler Magazine’s Spring/Summer 2019 issue, and it is easy to see why. Be careful of Google Maps – it will bring you to the wrong side of the building.
The shop features modern fabrics ranging from Grunge in solids, dots, and stars to Kaffe Fassett, and an entire wall of blenders and solids. There are over 2,000 bolts in the store, so you are sure to find something to suit your next project. There are a lot of brights, as well as a nice selection of wide backings, not to mention Southwest fabrics and Ruby Star Society prints. If you enjoy working with wool, there are fabrics and kits available. Don’t miss the great selection of toweling! They also carry both quilting and clothing patterns.
There are samples on just about every wall, as well as some hung from the ceiling. Many have kits to go with the patterns, or you can choose your own fabrics. Don’t miss the adorable stuffed animals, complete with patterns!
Samples on the wall, rulers below – how can you go wrong? There is a great selection of rulers here, as well as Jerry’s Jelly Roll Jig. If you haven’t heard of this, there are great videos showing how to use it. It is a jig to make Jelly Roll Rugs, letting you feed both batting and fabric through at once and fold them as needed to make the fabric ball, making stitching simple. The shop also features Kimberbell Embroidery patterns, and is a Kimberbell certified shop. Hip Stich also sells and service Featherweight Sewing Machines, so if you are in the market…
You would normally need 30 to 40 minutes here, but the shop is working online only as of this writing. Please contact the shop if you are going to be in the area and see if they have been allowed to reopen yet.

Stop back on Monday to see where the North American Shop Hop is visiting next. The site was down for a month due to issues with the host, but we are back with a new host and ready to roll!
Yeay! I guess the new webhost is live…. I was subscribed and it didn’t appear in my inbox, something lost in transition?
What an awesome article on such a cute shop! I stop by every time I am in town, they are so cheery and welcoming, not to mention the inspiration I get from the fabrics and samples! 🙂
