Take an enjoyable 50 mile side trip from Interstate 95 to the shores of Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine. Check out the wildlife and the lake, and then come and visit Crazy Moose Fabrics. Owned by Marilyn Goodwin, this shop has both yarn and fabric.
With over 1,000 bolts of fabric to choose from, you will be certain to find several that just have to follow you home. There are lots of prints, including some with Maine themes that you can stash for your travel memories quilt. Solids and blenders are available, and some retro – but no 30’s reproduction! Tula Pink is well represented, as well as a nice selection of panels. There is also a set of sewing cookie cutters, including scissors, a spool of thread, and a sewing machine. Use them as stencils for your quilting, and then – make cookies!
Thinking of a Christmas or Birthday gift for the children or grandchildren? Check out these Funky Friends patterns from Australia. Of course, we grown-ups can adopt them as well. You can make them out of any fabric you like, so they can be as funky as you want. I might have to try one of the cuddle prints for a softer feel, although the stretch might be an issue. Maybe flannel?
Another possibility for holiday sewing is tote bags, and these are some nice ones. I really like the scalloped edges on the larger one! Patterns are available, and help with fabric selection if you need it. Make several to match all of your outfits, or as gifts.
For those of you who enjoy knitting or crocheting, there is a great selection of yarns available here. There are also patterns for yarn arts and quilting.
The shop is doing Facebook Live presentations every Thursday from 7-8 PM Eastern, if you are not ready to travel yet. When you come, plan to spend 30 to 45 minutes here.
