Ready Set Sew Chattanooga, Tennessee

Located just a couple of miles from Interstate 24, Melanie and Steve Coakley’s shop has survived the COVID shutdown by becoming a mask factory. They have reopened, but the production line continues. They were working on a 1,700 piece order the day I was in to visit.

The business started as a commercial embroidery house 25 years ago, which is still going strong, and added fabric and machines 12 years ago. There are over 1,200 bolts of fabric in house, including a wall of batiks, a selection of Kaffe Fassett, and of course blenders, prints, and solids. Also available are charm packs, layer cakes, and jelly rolls. Samples are also distributed around the shop for inspiration.

If you are looking for a really fun back to make your quilt reversible, check out the selection here. I have to find a use for those giant flowers! They are begging to be used, and I’d bet they would Stack-N-Whack, as would the shelf of prints shown above.

Ready Set Sew is a dealer for Janome, Juki, and Baby Lock. They also provide long arm service in house, so feel free to stop in and put your top in the queue to be finished. Take some time to look at machines while you are there. There is also a great selection (half a wall) of Glide threads for your pleasure. The in house repair person has 25 years of experience, so if your machine is having issues, call for an appointment or bring it in to visit.

Plan to be here for 30 to 40 minutes, unless you start checking out the machines and spend the afternoon…
