Just about ten miles from Interstate 26, Exit 17, you will find this delightful shop sharing a building with a dentist’s office. Turn right when you enter for fabric, left for teeth! Owned by Carol and Ray Mahar, this shop has a great set of nooks and crannies to explore, and every one has a different type or style of fabric – except for Mr. Ray’s Repair shop.
The entry is the home of samples, patterns, thread, and notions. Threads include Glide, Aurofil, and a selection Gutterman Hand Quilting. There is also a great collection of the rulers and the gadgets we all love to play with when quilting. Don’t miss the Fat Quarter Flowers on the counter!
There is a lot of fabric here – over 1,800 bolts. Wander down the hall and check out the rooms on both sides. I suspect this may have once been a medical office, as there are so many small rooms off of the main hall. You will find grunge, batiks, prints, a great selection of wide backs, and wool. There are also panels available.

Sewing Bee is a dealer for both Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking. Take some tine while you are there to look at the machines, and ask for a demonstration. Mr. Ray does machine repair in house, so if you are having issues with your machine, call and see when he can fix it for you.
Plan to spend 30 to 40 minutes here, longer if you are checking out the machines as well as the fabric.

Stop back on Thursday to continue the North American Shop Hop tour of eastern Tennessee quilt shops!
Loved that you found one of my favorite shops. However, I think you have directions wrong. There is no I-24 here; I believe you mean I-26.
You are correct, and I have corrected the post. Thank you!!
