Did you ever walk into a quilt shop and think, “I want it ALL?” Owner Karen McPoyle did exactly that – she went shopping with friends and bought the store! Located just two and one half miles from Interstate 90 Exit 41, this shop is a real gem. It has been in this location for three years.
There is fabric, over 1600 bolts of prints, solids, and blenders. The shop also carries at least 40 different wide backs. Fabric is arranged by color family, so you can take your print and find coordinating fabrics very easily. There are also charm packs and jelly rolls. If you cannot find what you are looking for or are not comfortable with selecting fabrics, Miss Karen is happy to help you with selections and color matching. She will also custom design your quilt if you so desire. Please contact the shop for pricing for this service.
One of the things you cannot miss in this shop is this beautiful hanging, a Helen Godden original. Ms. Godden calls herself an extreme free motion quilter. She is also an award winning artist. You will want to admire this close up – the picture really doesn’t capture all of her stitching detail. She works free motion, not computer driven, and this is lovely. I honestly could not tell if this was painted on the fabric and stitched, or pieced and appliqued. Feel free to share your vote!
There are samples all over the store for inspiration, not to mention this piece of stained (quilted?) glass. Go on a scavenger hunt for the old wash tub, complete with scrub board. Have you even done laundry on one of these? I have, many times. There are also antique sewing machines on top of the shelves, and a seed bin holding patterns.
Plan to spend 30 to 40 minutes here, longer if you get into serious color matching. The shop is currently quarantine closed, but will reopen as soon as allowed. Phone Orders are being shipped in the interim.
