Less than three miles from Interstate 70 Exit 118, Sherry Monfort’s Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop has been in business for 17 years, but in their new location only since September of last year. Watch out for Google Maps; it sends you to the back door – where you will find a sign directing you around to the actual entrance.
The venue has yet to get a sign posted on the board for the center, so do trust Google Maps when it says you are there. It is near Rusty’s Wharf Seafood restaurant, so when you see that you are close.
Customer’s call this shop “a big therapy place,” and with over 3000 bolts of fabric it’s a good place to get your fabric fix! Fabrics range from grunge to batiks, and everything in between.
If you like grunge, there is a nice selection available, in regular and polka dot versions. There is also a great selection of blenders and solids, and don’t miss all of the prints. Stack-n-Whack temptations are everywhere… Check out the flowered panel hanging under the pumpkin samples. Have you ever used a stack of panels for Stack-n-Whack? They come out amazing!
Kaffe Fassett is well represented, as you can see. There are also a lot of patterns and thread to choose from, and samples for inspiration. Don’t miss the samples back in the classroom; they are lovely.
There are fat quarter packs and quilt kits in a china closet near the front door. Make sure you don’t miss these as you are browsing. Plan to spend 30 to 40 minutes here to see everything.
