The Stitch in Time Shoppe Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Just off of Route 30 east about six miles from the Irwin Exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is Toni and George Dunmyre’s The Stitch in Time Shoppe. It is in the Gabriel Brother’s Plaza, right after Greengate Mall. If you get to the Route 30 Bypass you’ve gone too far.

There are over 900 bolts of fabric to choose from here, ranging from prints to panels to pre-quilted fabrics for bags. I found several good candidates for Stack-n-Whack, as well as grunge and batiks. There is also a good selection of blenders and solids. Check out the pattern wall and the sample quilts. There is plenty of inspiration available, and the staff is happy to help you select fabrics.

The Stitch in Time Shop is a registered Brother dealer, and they also have a great collection of vintage machines in the shop. Take some tome to browse and compare the old and new machines. Then see how much sewing machines have changed by having one of the staff demonstrate one of the new systems. You may find something that just has to follow you home, and the shop carries Horn of America Cabinets to store your new baby. They also carry Anita Goodesign embroidery patterns.

Plan to spend 30 to 40 minutes here, longer if you are checking out the new machines.
