We’re continuing our tour of Ohio’s Amish Country with this shop along Route 557 in Millersburg. Owned by Naomi Miller, this is a “two for one” store. One building has fabric on two floors; the other has more fabric plus completed crafts and quilts upstairs. The buildings are just a few short steps apart, so you can park and shop to your heart’s content. Just remember to check out in the building you are in before going on to the second one. I almost carried the new fabric I was trying to match out the door without paying for it….
This is something I have not seen at any of the other shops I have been in – toweling fabric! I tend to stain towels during canning season, and being able to get fabric and make my own will be a real money saver. This is additionally a great source for slightly customized shower gifts. I tend to like longer towels…
There are around 8,000 bolts of quilting fabric here. Go downstairs to the outlet for sale fabric in the larger building, or shop the second building (Quilt Barn) for more fabrics and sales. Fabrics range from Civil War to Calico and Batiks. Note that shelving in the center of the rooms has bolts on their sides, so you get to see a lot more fabric in about the same space.
There are some really fun panels here. If you have a dog you can relate to the “Every Bite You Take” sentiment, and Miss Kitty is just adorable. One of the dog panels followed by girlfriend home. She and her husband have Belvedere, a Rottweiler mix, who watches every bite in hope of a slip. Miss Kitty followed me…
Finally, don’t miss the sample quilts in both buildings. The cardinals are actually a fleece panel. I have a similar panel in cotton that I haven’t figured out how I am using yet. The Lone Star is in the Quilt Barn.
Plan at least an hour here. By the time you go through both buildings and check out the completed quilts, aprons, potholders, and rugs, you will spend at least that long.
