Depending upon which end of the strip mall you enter, this is either the first or the second shop in the strip mall at the corner of Route 22 and Route 219 in Ebensberg, Pennsylvania. Owned by Cindy Griffith, this shop is a clever combination of antique pieces and modern fabrics.
Suppose a quilter in your heritage passes away, and you are left with a box or two of quilt blocks, but you have no idea what to do with them since you are not an experienced quilter. Just give Creative Fabrics a call and make an appointment to bring them into the shop. Miss Cindy can tell you what pattern they are and suggest what you might want to do with them. She also offers a service to make them into a Memory Quilt (or Pillow or Table Runner or …) if you are not able to tackle the project. I saw some beautiful blocks being reviewed the day I was in the shop. The shop also makes T-shirt Memory quilts
Fabrics range from batiks to large scale prints and everything in between. There is a nice selection of panels to choose from for a quick wall hanging. Cindy’s dad was up for a visit and helping with the annual inventory when I was in the shop, and we had a lovely chat in between bolts. The shop was quite busy, so his help was both needed and appreciated.
Have you ever come across a Canadian Treadle Machine? There was one in this shop that I got to admire. Don’t miss the other antique machines and tools available to enjoy – look on top of every shelf! The John Clark Thread cabinet is magnificent.
There is also a selection of both machine and hand stitched quilts for sale, and kits to make Toaster Covers. If you are a knitter or a crocheter, stop in and browse.
The sample at the right is free hand long arm art. Miss Cindy has been quilting free motion with a long arm for ten years. A computerized system was added last May for those who desire this service.
