The Quilt Peddler LLC Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Approximately four miles from PA-56 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, you will find The Quilt Peddler. It’s on a hill, so no flood worries! Owner Lugene Shaver started with 50 bolts of Hoffman batiks in her home 23 years ago, and now the shop has a house of it’s own – but all of the batiks are still Hoffman.

Look to your right as you enter the front door – there is a wonderful built in shelf set filled with Fat Quarters Packs and one yard cuts from bolt ends. What a great way to guide customers into the shop! There is a long arm set up in the room you can see through the shelves that is often running. The shelf is an efficient way to use space and to keep folks from stumbling into a quilt in progress!

There are more than batiks here, although there are several hundred bolts of them. There are also prints and blenders – check out the old canner full of sunflowers and other Stack-n-Whack candidates! I remember canning two quart jars of tomatoes in one of those as a child.

Don’t miss the samples on the classroom wall. The snowmen have been chenilled, so they look like snow. This is the quilt from last year’s Shop Hop and kits are available. Miss Lugene also teaches and sells her own patterns, so check out the class schedule for the next round coming.

The Quilt Peddler is a registered HandiQuilter dealer as well. There are not really two machines running on the same table, but it is lovely to see them side by side and compare! Plan to be here 30 to 40 minutes.
