Quilter’s Corner, Finleyville, Pennsylvania

This bustling shop is just over ten miles from Interstate 79 south of Pittsburgh. If you are in the area, you need to take a field trip. Owned by Mary Beth Hartnett, Quilter’s Corner carries over 6500 bolts of fabric.

The day I was in there was a sale going on, and the shop was really busy, but the staff was keeping up and keeping calm – a real tribute to their dedication and training. Patterns and samples are above or beside the fabrics used to make them. This makes it really easy to pick up a pattern and the fabric you need to make the quilt. There are also kits available, many of which are exclusive to Quilter’s Corner.

Fabric selections include Ruby Star, Northcott, Moda, Australian Prints, Kaffe Fassette, cork, and many more. The panel selection includes the new National Parks panel. The store is divided into alcoves for each color family – which is how you fit so much fabric in the space available! There is also a weekly “Friday Fabric.” This is a bolt that is on discount for that day, and it changes every Friday. The other fun special that was running was a “Snow Day Quilt Kit.” You purchase the fabric kit – brights, black and white, or earth tones – but you do not get the pattern in your e-mail until there is six inches of snow at the shop, or on Valentine’s Day, whichever comes first.

How about a drafting cabinet full of Quilting Rulers instead of Engineering Drawings? Just pull out drawer after drawer and see what’s available. I saw a lot I have – and a lot I’d like to have. If you are looking for a specialty ruler, stop in or call and see if they carry it.

You can also pick up patterns and fabric for these guys – they would love to follow you home! There is a lovely selection of children’s fabrics to go with them. Aren’t they adorable?

There is sewing machine repair available through the shop, if you need that service. Plan to spend at least an hour here.
