Don’t look at the name of this shop and assume, as I did initially, that it specializes in high fashion fabrics and patterns. In business for 37 years and owned by sisters Lynn Gramley and Sheila Sapp, the shop was opened by their mother. Couture was her last name and their maiden name.
Located just two and a half miles from I475 in Macon, Georgia, this delightful quilt shop specializes in Moda fabrics and Brother sewing machines. Suite 5A has been their current location for almost 15 years, however, the shopping center still has their name on both the old and new locations, so if it looks like they’ve closed, check out their actual (larger) location five doors down.
This shop is an embroidery aficionado’s dream – I have never seem so many different spools of thread in one location!
As a Brother Sewing Machine dealer, Couture carries thread to allow stitching any one of the many patterns they carry, including Kimber Bell. The monthly Embroidery Clubs uses the new Kimber Bell each month.
If you prefer Anita Goodesign’s Quilt in Hoop patterns, they are available as well. Looking for an Embroidery Machine? Check out all of the models available. Anyone in the store can demonstrate any of the machines for you.
Check out the wide selection of Charm Packs, Layer Cakes, and Jelly Rolls. Couture also carries Fat Quarter and Fat Eighth packs – the Fat Eighths are great for applique!!
Couture Sewing specializes in Moda fabrics. I have never seen so many collected in the same place, and many of them were prints I didn’t realize Moda makes – I am used to using them for blenders.
Look for the antique machines on display. Check them all out while you’re in the shop.
Of course, there are samples and kits available. Also check out the class schedule and see if you can be encourages to stay in the area for awhile. Please be aware that the shop is closed on most Federal holidays, so call and check before stopping by on one of these days.
